The people of California have voted to keep the definition of marriage as being between a man and woman.  This shows that even in one of the most liberal states in the country, a majority still hold to traditional values.  This is a win for the majority of Americans who still hold family in high esteem.  While this will probably end up in court where it doesn't belong, the people have spoken.

I agree with you.  While I have been a lifelong Democrat, it disturbs me to see where the party is headed.  I believe government should help people, but why does it seem many want to destroy the moral fabric that built this country.  It seems that most extreme liberals want to impose their views and morality on us.  If we don't believe as they do, or are people of faith, they want to ridicule and berate us.  They want us to be tolerant of their "lifestyle", but they are intolerant of us.

You are right though, this will end up in court, where it doesn't belong.  Whatever happened to "We the people".  If the voters decided this it should stand and be done with.

Now some gay activists are targeting the Mormon Church for helping to pass the initiative. Why doesn't tolerance for beliefs swing both ways?  Why is it that if you back traditional values you are ridiculed?  What this shows is that when the majority sees things one way, they are attacked.  The majority spoke at the ballot box on how they feel about this and that should be the end of it.

Just about everything ends up court these days.  It sometimes seems that if some group with a particular agenda that is not all that popular and does not get what they want, they hire a lawyer and take it to court.  The vote was counted, the ballot measure passed, and the people spoke.  That should be enough.
