I notice that new posts from the blogs show up quickly in the search engines.  I assume this from Search Engine Optimization.  Can you explain this in more detail and how can I optimize even more?

You are correct, it is search engine optimization techniques that get the blog posts in the search engines so quickly.  The SEO features of the Wordpress blogs are some of its' best features.  The simplest way to optimize your blog is to use the SEO tab towards the bottom of the screen when you are writing a new post.  You have to use keywords that are commonly used in search strings, and put them in the body of your post as well as the description and the title.  The more the keywords that you place in the "keywords" field appear in your post's title and body, the higher up your blog will appear in the search engine results for that post.  The SEO features to the blogs is what makes the blogs such a great medium for sharing whatever you want with the world.
